a guide to mexico city

  • July in Mexico City: July is part of the rainy season, but don’t worry! Rain typically falls in the late afternoon or evening, so your guests can enjoy the sunny mornings and early afternoons. Highs will be in the 70s and 80s °F (around 25-30°C), and evenings can get cooler. It’s a good idea to bring a light jacket or sweater for the evenings.

    • Uber/Rideshare: Highly recommended for getting around the city, especially in the evenings when the metro can be crowded.

    • Sofitel Mexico City Location: The hotel is centrally located on Paseo de la Reforma, making it easy for guests to explore iconic attractions nearby, including Chapultepec Park, the Angel of Independence, and historic museums.

    • Public Transportation: The metro station Revolución is nearby, but Uber or rideshare services are highly recommended for comfort and convenience, especially if traveling at night.

    • Walkable Neighborhoods: The Zona Rosa, Roma, and Condesa areas are all within walking distance and are fantastic spots to explore on foot.

    • Language: Spanish is the official language, but English is widely understood in tourist areas. A few basic phrases like “Hola” (hello) and “Gracias” (thank you) will go a long way.

    • Safety: Mexico City is generally safe in areas like Paseo de la Reforma, Polanco, and Roma. Always be aware of your surroundings and use rideshare apps after dark for extra safety.

    • Currency: The Mexican Peso (MXN) is the local currency. Credit cards are widely accepted, but it’s helpful to carry some cash for smaller purchases or in local markets.

    • ATMs: You’ll find plenty of ATMs around Sofitel and the nearby neighborhoods.
